When are you hitting the market??
We are expecting to hit the market around January and February 2024
Who/what Inspired you to make electric cars?
I’m inspired to create electric cars because of the global shift towards them, their environmental benefits, and my passion for design and local manufacturing. I believe making our own products can be more profitable and beneficial for our community.
How long does it take to charge?
“To fully charge our car using a standard home charging system, like the one you use for your phone, it might take 6 to 7 hours. However, with a rapid charging system, it can be as quick as 30 to 40 minutes.”
How long does it stay charged?
The car’s range is 100-150 km per charge, targeting individuals who use these small cars for transporting luggage between locations.
How much does it cost to do maintenance?
Maintenance costs are minimal due to the absence of an engine; there’s only a motor. The only necessary oil is brake fluid, and as long as the master cylinder is in good condition, maintenance is rarely required.
What is the battery life, after how long do you need to change the battery?
Our battery’s lifespan ranges from 7 to 10 years, and that’s when it needs replacement.
Can you charge at home?
Yes, you can charge at home using the same electric power as when charging your phone.
Do you have plan to have charging stations?
We’ll create opportunities for people and welcome those who can develop charging and swapping stations.
When a person buys a car, what does he or she get?
When you purchase our car, we’ll monitor your vehicle and provide customer support for a year. Additionally, a charger is included with your purchase.
Is there any great feature in your car?
“Another notable feature of our car is the battery compartment design, which allows for easy battery replacement, ensuring a swift transition to a new one. While refueling a conventional gasoline car typically takes 4 to 5 minutes, our electric car, when equipped with a fast-charging system, can be charged in 30 to 40 minutes. Using standard household electricity, it takes 6 to 7 hours for a full charge. Additionally, our car’s charging system includes a Battery Management System (BMS) that automatically stops charging when the battery is full, safeguarding it from damage, even if it remains connected to the power source. This feature is especially useful when you’re asleep or away, as you can simply charge the battery and let it handle the rest.”
Will you have a place for changing battery?
“We’ve planned for a designated area where you can quickly swap your battery within minutes and then continue on your way with ease.”
Do you have investors / looking for investors??
“At the moment, we haven’t secured an investor, and we’re actively seeking one. We understand that many investors may be hesitant due to the newness of our project. However, I believe we could be the first in Tanzania to manufacture electric vehicles from scratch, even though I haven’t done a lot of research on it. That’s what I know for now.”
Does it have automation /. Autopilot features coz it’s electric??
“Currently, we don’t have any automation features like autonomous driving, but we’re planning to incorporate various advanced features in our cars in the years to come.”
Tell me anything/something that we do not know about Kaypee Motors
“Kaypee Motors is the first in Tanzania to create electric cars from scratch. Our standout feature is battery swapping, enabling customers to quickly replace the battery and continue their work.”
Where is the factory, if you don’t mind sharing?
“Our industry is now located in Ununio Mbezi Beach. We initially started at SIDO, but our company has expanded, and we now have a larger production line with more cars being manufactured.”
How are you planning competing with other big electric manufacturer.
“We aspire to compete with major car manufacturers in the industry, with our good services and we’re confident that we’ll achieve that goal someday.”
Do you have other models for your car?
“Yes, we have another design for a minivan, and it’s currently at 40% completion. We’re dedicated to working diligently to launch and showcase it to the public.”
Do you have plan to go for international market?
“Yes, we are planning to expand internationally, particularly in East and Central Africa. When we introduced our cars, we received numerous inquiries and messages from Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, Congo, and even South Sudan.”
“As we conclude, Kaypee Motors embodies progress, innovation, and a brighter future for our continent. The journey of creating electric cars in Tanzania showcases the boundless potential of passion and determination.
We appreciate Mr. Kipanya for sharing his expertise and vision, serving as an inspiration for all. The African electric car industry is poised for transformation, with Kaypee Motors leading the way.
We eagerly anticipate Kaypee Motors’ continued growth and success in driving the electric car revolution. Thank you, Mr. Kipanya, for illuminating the path to a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future in transportation.”
